Review: Oral-B Triumph 9400 Power Toothbrush and Research Buy Now!

Here’s my in-depth review of my latest gadget acquisition: an Oral-B Triumph 9400 electric power toothbrush, as well as my research leading up to my final choice. The time had come to replace my first electric toothbrush, a first generation sonic toothbrush, the Cybersonic, and I knew the replacement had to be a sonic or similarly powerful electric toothbrush.

Whynter SOLARIS Stainless Steel Patio Heater

Whynter SOLARIS Stainless Steel Patio Heater

Extend patio living for a couple more months with this patio heater. This heater is similar to the heaters you see around clubs and restaurants during the fall/winter/spring times to keep guests comfortable. Why not use the patio heaters at home?

The patio heater heats outdoor temperatures by as much as 20 degrees F in a 15′ to 20′ circle around the heater. Nothing like sticking 45,000 BTUs on a wood deck!

AMP Pocket Backpack w/Speakers, Cell-Phone Link

Carry your gear in an ultra-cool backpack. Plug your cell phone and iPod into the Skullcandy LINK Backpack, and you’ll be able to play your favorite tunes through the amplified 60mm speakers embedded in the upper straps. When you get a call, you can either eliminate the music entirely or simply reduce the music volume with the mid-strap control buttons, which allow you to listen and talk hands-free.

I don’t care who you are… this is cool!

Remote Controlled Pool Skimmer

Remote Controlled Pool Skimmer

I was on vacation in sunny, hot Florida not too long ago and thought I could really use the Waterproof Floating Remote Control, but it turns out that what I really needed was this Remote Controlled Skimmer! I got really tired of cleaning the pool using the manual hand-held skimmer. This is a cool-looking catamaran style boat with the skimmer net strung between the pontoons. Remote control works from 100 feet away.

Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker

Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker

This summer has just been hot. One way to cool down is with ice cream, but Geeks don’t like to use the old fashioned ice cream makers… we prefer something more interesting. We came across something called the “Ice Cream Ball”. Basically, you put the ingredients for ice cream (cream, sugar and vanilla at it’s simplest) in one side and rock salt and ice in the other end and start playing with the ball. Only human electricity is needed to produce homemade ice cream.

At first I thought this gizmo was part of the DIY atomic bomb in Manhattan Project!

Solestrom SmartSwim UV Meter Bikini

Solestrom SmartSwim UV Meter Bikini

It’s summer time, and it’s hot out there. If you’re going out to enjoy the rays at the beach, you may want to snag one of these ‘smart’ suits from Solestrom. Touted as a first, the SmartSwim UV Meter bikini has sensors built right into it to measure the UV index; just press a button on the belt to display the current UV reading.

Humminbird Rf35 Smartcast Watch with Sonar Sensor

Humminbird Rf35 Smartcast Watch with Sonar Sensor

As I was posting this Gizmo of the Day, I realized that we’ve left our fishermen high ‘n’ dry, so to speak; I don’t think we’ve ever featured a fishing gizmo. Well, it’s never too late to correct such a wrong. Here’s the Humminbird Rf35 Smartcast Wrist Watch with a Remote Sonar Sensor. It’s watch, yes, but this brightly backlit, huge screen includes ultra-wide sonar coverage upto 2x the depth of the water. Just stick a sonar buoy on a fishing line and you’re set. Get this: the sensor can even recognize the sonar signature of some fish.

Flashflight LED Flying Discs (Frisbees)

Flashflight LED Flying Discs (Frisbees)

What better way to spend a nice summer day than outside, maybe enjoying some activity like throwing a frisbee around? But it can get pretty hot during the day, so maybe you think you’d prefer to do it at night instead. Now you can, with these discs that are lit up using an LED fiber-optic array. These discs come in Blue Regular, Multi-colored Regular, Blue Mini, or Multi-colored Mini. The coolest part is the way they leave light trails in the air. The good word on these from a frisbee throwing ‘spert is that these are pretty solid discs and have a good feel to them. They recommended the blue one to me.

Solaire Infravection 27 Inch Grill W/ Rotisserie

Solaire Infravection 27 Inch Grill W/ Rotisserie

As the July 4th weekend ushers in yet another summer, we’d be remiss if we didn’t feature a monster grilling machine. Here’s one with a twist, although it might be a bit offensive to some barbeque purists: it’s a grill that uses infrared to burn… err.. cook your meat. Before you smirk, check this out: each of its ceramic infrared burners run at 32,000 BTU; these puppies fire up in minutes. Minutes. No more messing around with charcoal and lighter fluid for an hour. This model includes a heavy-duty motorized rotisserie rod and forks. This is a looker too, mirrored stainless steel. In case you’re not down with the infrared stuff, you can get a conversion kit to use natural gas instead. The manufacturer, Solaire, makes some larger models in case 32,000 BTU is child’s play to you. How does 82,000 BTU sound? Going in the wrong price direction? Ok, how about something under $500?
