You can record directly to DVD using this Sony Digital Camcorder and using the Picture Package software you can easily organize still images and video content and create music videos with them. One item I really like about DVD recordable camcorders is the visual index usually offered (this digital camcorder does!) which allows you to quickly flip from chapter to chapter so you don’t have to watch an entire MiniDVs tape from start to finish to find some footage you want.
You can literally stick this camcorder in the palm of your hand and if you go on a trip, the DVD recordables are more flat that MiniDVs. This would be a great camcorder for everyday use (if you have kids) or travel.

JVC welcomes the next format in digital camcorders with a hard drive (actually 30GB microdrive) for storage rather than saving data to MiniDV or writing directly to DVD.
Of course hard drives are not immune from shocks and vibrations so JVC has developed a unique floating syspension system dampening vibrations through advanced polymer shock absorbers. Another technology, borrowed from notebook PC users, is the gravity-like force sensor system that senses sudden acceleration such as the camcorder falling and turns off the power to avoid a head crash.
