Toshiba’s first hard-drive camera, is packed with 60 GB of storage, enough space to store 13 hours of DVD-quality footage, and billed as the highest-capacity hard-drive camcorder on the market. The 2-megapixel CCD sensor and simultaneous still- and video-capture capabilities are also impressive, but it’s the hard drive capacity that distinguishes Toshiba’s device from similar units by Sanyo, Sony, and JVC. The new Toshiba GSC-R30 (30GB*) and GSC-R60 (60GB*) models feature built in 1.8″ hard disk drives, a 2.5″ diagonally measured high resolution LCD screen (210k pixels), a 2 Mega Pixel color CCD Sensor and offer high quality MPEG-2 video. The GSC-R60 comes with a docking cradle that includes a USB port, Ethernet connectivity, an AC adaptor and an A/V output.

Media Bridge for Gizmos powered by Linux

Unicon System's M-Bridge The first media bridge for gizmos such as PMPs, PSPs, Digital Cameras, Cell Phones and iPods that will free gizmo users from having to use computers to transfer media files is being released by Unicon Systems. Wired transfers can be made using MCopy and MBridge will allow users to transfer files wirelessly.

Both devices run off Unicon System’s Linux kernel and supports a variety of filesystems supporting USB devices. The platform’s windowing system uses Microwindows Nano-X server which includes a full-screen graphical filemanager, a web server, mysql, php, webdav and xml/rdf libraries.

“12 Gizmos of Christmas”: #6 – Digital Cameras

Digital Cameras will be under many Christmas trees this year even though we slipped their ranking on geek wish lists from #2 last year to #6 this year.

We grabbed digital cameras from the big three digital camera manufacturers including Sony, Canon and Nikon as well as a lightening fast photo printer from HP. This will undoubtedly be a heavily wished for category this year.
