Sony HDR-SR1 AVCHD 4MP 30GB HD HDD Camcorder

Sony HDR-SR1 AVCHD 4MP 30GB HD HDD Camcorder

Where have you been all my life Sony HDR-SR1? Oh yeah, waiting for technology to catch up with my vision of a hard drive based camcorder that records in high-definition. You can also record in standard-definition, but why would you do that?

The HDR-SR1 uses a 2.1MP ClearVid CMOS Sensor requiring much less power than the traditional CCD imagers. Also, using a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens resulting in vivid image brilliance, true-to-left color saturation and perfect renditions of subtle tones. The T coating also reduces unwanted glare and flare.

Including a 16:9, 3.5 inch touch-panel LCD display, the camcorder features smooth slow recording and records audio in Dolby Digital 5.1. This gizmo is hot!

New Nikon DSLR Camera In 20 Days

Leon Huang sent us a tip that Nikon is releasing their new Nikon DSLR Camera in about 20 days. We’ll be happy to test if Nikon sends one!

Check out Nikon Imaging Global website right now and you’ll be in for a little surprise. From the flash animation, it seems like Nikon has snuck up on us and will release a new DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera in 20 days from now.

For those who can’t be bothered to watch the animation, it reads as follow:

“More power… More control… More versatile… More excitement
Next Nikon
New 10.2 megapixel D-SLR addition to the lineup Integrating quality and affordability to meet the demands of passionate photo enthusiasts”

Affordability, sounds like an upgrade to the Nikon D70s! From the looks of the shutter release area, it is likely not an upgrade to the D200. So if you’re a fellow Nikon shooter who is looking to upgrade your D50/D70/D70s body, hold on to your money untill the curtains are drawn for this new baby.

WAYNE, NJ, May 9, 2006 – JVC Company of America today announced the launch of a hard drive camcorder that combines a 3-CCD imaging device for superior quality video with the long recording time made possible by an internal 30GB (gigabyte) hard disk drive.

The new JVC Everio G Series GZ-MG505, like all Everio G Series camcorders, eliminates the need to carry tapes, discs or any media at all, yet can record up to seven hours of DVD movie-quality video or more than 10 hours at DVD camcorder-quality. Sony HDR-FX1 3-CCD HDV High Definition Camcorder

Sony HDR-FX1 3-CCD HDV High Definition Camcorder

Sony introduced the HDR-FX1 last year and probably should have been the Gizmo of the Day then, but… better late than never.

The HDR-FX1 is the first 1080i (HDTV) camcorder that was available in the consumer class. Since this mamouth digital camcorder was released, several other 1080i digital camcorders have hit the market but the Sony HDR-FX1 is still the best (and biggest) in the market.

The Sony HDR-FX1 HDV Handycam camcorder: the revolution begins.

Sanyo Xacti HD Digital Video Camera

Sanyo Xacti HD Digital Video Camera

Now I remember why I’ve held off purchasing a digital video camera since my was stolen a few years ago… progress! This year we’ve seen the emergence of hard drive based digital video cameras (no extra media needed) and now the smaller high-definition digital video cameras are starting to emerge. Now if these two technologies can be married together I’ll have a reason to buy!

Finally, high-definition digital camcorders have come in under $1000 and can easily fit in your hand! This Sony Xacti HD Digital Video Camera can record over 21 minutes of 720-pixel HD video on a single 1GB SD Card in MPEG-4 format… come on, you knew you wouldn’t be able to record for too long with the amount of data needed for HD, but you could just buy a couple extra SD cards for that.
